Rear axle weight is going to be the biggest issue you have due to the weight your tires can support. Truck with 3.73 rearend GVWR is 21,000lbs and with 4.10's is 23,000 lbs. You really needed a 3500 dually with 4.10's to carry that weight. Yes, your truck will pull it but you may have some issues. Your rear tires load rating in a single configuration is around 3100 lbs each. So they will limit you to 6,200 lbs. on the rear axle. If you have a warranty issue and they find out how much weight you tow you may have a problem. I know of one on this board that has had that issue. They ended up voiding his warranty.

You can't have over 6200 LBS on your rear axle or you will overload your tires. You should hit a scale with your 5er hooked up and fully loaded and see where you are. The 12.5 rated limit sounds about right, but as long as you don't have over 6200 on the rear you'll have no problems towing your 15K 5er.

Dodge makes a booklet ,you should be able to get it from from the dealer, mine is" 2006 Truck Specifications Guide "it gives you box size, seat dimensions and towing and weight info for all configurations of Durango and Ram trucks, mostly in chart form ,22 pages,I am sure yours would be the same as an 06 since you have a 5.9l/48re combo.Your max. trailer wt.= 12550# and max. payload=1680#......13550#/2590# for a 3500 1 ton. Those are Mega cab specs. auto only SRW with the stock E rated tires and 373 rear end.

But to get your best answer go to the scales and subtract your loaded weight from 20000 lbs, thats really your tow rating. Also make sure you don't exceed the tire ratings on the rear axle.

FYI, the same truck in a 3500 SRW is rated for 13,550 and the only difference is the 3500 SRW has overloads, the rest of the truck, including the main leafs, is the same... So thats a closer number to what the truck can handle according to the mfgr... I suggest airbags to help keep the truck level.
