torque converters

So my torque converter is blown and I went to the dealership and they are so far back ordered on them that they are not sure when they will have them in, So they gave me the option to go with a aftermarket one if I wanted to pay for the converter and they will install it for free.
Question is now what is the best torque converter to put in this truck, how much do they cost and I live in british columbia Canada, so how long would it take to ship it here.
They said they deal with a company out of vancouver that makes them, they are callbp converters, but there 1500 bucks, it sounds a little pricey to me,
Please send me some options and ideas on what you have done and what the costs are.
Just a quick note, there is 75 converters on order for dealers across canada, I think that is telling me something about the converters in these trucks

Is this a warranty repair?
If it is, I certainly don't think YOU should be paying for anything.
It's not your fault the converters are back ordered.
If you need to go with an aftermarket converter I would determine what a factory converter costs and deduct that amount from any aftermarket converter you buy and make the dealership pay for the difference.
Again if this is a warranty job the dealer should be doing the labor for free regardless.

i agree with killbee on that one you need to find out the cost of the stock tc and then they need to give you that amount towards a new tc and they install it free you should only have to pay the difference in the cost over the stock tc. i would look at suncoast or DTT for a tc

Check out BD in Abbotsford. www.bd-power.com

I think it's great that they would give you the option of a better converter. Not many dealers could be bothered. It would be nice if you could get them to chip in some $$ toward the part.

Thanks guys, it is a warranty repair and I fully agree that because they are so back ordered that I should only have to pay the difference from the stock to upgraded one, but try asking any dealership for favors around here is like pulling teeth, I truly dont even want the stock converter put back in after finding out how many the dealerships have on order and there is a obviuos reason for it, you would think they would know they have a problem here and give everyone the option to upgrade to a better one and just pay the difference,
I pm mcmopar last night to see if he can get me a price on a 3 stage one, heard he is a dealer for goerend, and send it air up to me here in british columbia, I havent heard anything back yet, but the dealer here said the only one they would warranty if I bought aftermarket was those bd converters out of cloverdale in vancouver, Ill call them today and see what kinda of money they want for one, I would like to have one of those goerend ones, they sound like there the one to have after hours of reading these forums

www.dunrite-converters.com, he has a 2 year warranty. He started out with Chrysler only products. Definately a good product.
