Too many fuel filter options!!! Ahhhhh!!!
Too many fuel filter options!!! Ahhhhh!!!
Ok,
I have been reading about fuel filters under the search tab for the last three hours tonight and I am even more confused then when I started. I saw the TSB for the 7 Micron requirement filter and then I read where Baldwin has engineered a 5 micron filter to fit into our factory canisters. My questions are:
1) In my 07, do I now have a 7 Micron Filter? If I don't, should'nt the TSB offer one up at the dealership?
2) While reducing trash in our fuel systems is our goal, if I go with a 5 Micron filter will my fuel pump crap out on me due to an increase in work load to push the fuel through the filter?
3) Who out there is running the 5 Micron fuel filter? Noticed any differences?
4) If I buy a 5 Micron filter, and my fuel pump goes out, will DC void the warranty because it was "over filtered" and the fuel pump couldn't keep up?
With all of the crazy filtration requirements being put upon us to keep our injectors clean I want to do what's best for my truck, but I don't want to hurt it by going over board. I'm fixing to pull out what little hair I have left on my Charlie Brown shaped head.

Thanx Gents.
Koogala, how close are you to Nixon TX? We have a ranch down there and living in OKC is driving me nuts since I can't watch the grey South Texas landscape turn to green again. I do miss the Mesquites.

Ok, I got my fuel filter in. Is there anything I should be aware of when replacing it? All you do is drain the fuel from the canister and replace the filter correct? If not, is there a link to some specifics that will help?
I appreciate the help.
I appreciate the help.
Lost Texan - drain the cannister, change filter/oring and close cannister, bump starter with key but don't start and wait a few secs, the fuel pump will refill the cannister and you should be good to go.

Right now I’m running the 7-micron filter from Genos and the 2-micron filter setup from Glacier (Well, I guess the 2-micron glacier setup is actually a 5-micron absolute). Anyway, I also have a fuel pressure gauge right before the CP3 and can hold 9-10 PSI at idle and around 7 when getting into it. Everything else is stock except that my muffler fell off.
