buddy had to do some REAL work, so he needed a real truck, had to borrow the CTD...
so i got his 02 or so Suburban over the weekend..it has 15 buttons on the door, not including the door handle and lock.
it has 5 switches on the headlamp area,
12 buttons on the over head console.
8 buttons on the front of the steering wheel.
siruis ready 6 disc in dash changer with automatic volume control.
the dang lites are automatic, and i can't ever tell what it's doing, they are automatic, but you can turn them off, but the dash lites stay on with the key, but not the outside lights, but you can change that.
and MANY of it's functions are programmable on the ODOMETER display, like:
curbview mirrors in reverse.
perimeter lighting
memory seats or no
lock / unlock events.
eng / metric
alarm feedback.
lights on delay on exit.
just really NICE not to have to cut the wires on your seatbelt because you can't figure out the key/door/rub belly/scratch foot sequence to program the chime on your CTD.
or not to have to buy a $500 triple dog to program features,
or visit the idiots at the dealership, and have to WALK them thru enabling items in the ECM (search for high idle thread on here)
nice SUV, but not for me.
i like to tell my vehicle what to do, not guess what it is doing.
it's like dealing with a belligerent child to work the lights in this rig.
i have yet to like an automatic HVAC system.

Yep...Mom's drove a Suburban since 1985...when they had me
Has had a new one every year since 1994...GM Employee discount
They are the best big SUV out there, plenty of room, nice features, and still get good mileage! That boat averages 16.5 combined, and right around 19.5-20 highway!
I wish my truck was as nice to drive as that thing...not quite as much power though

I admire the technology that goes into today trucks/cars and respect the fact that its technology that has allowed modern cars to produce some big number in the HP area and still get good mileage.
However, I work with computers everyday (and often nights and weekends
).
Id just as soon not have them in the vehicle I own. (Or, at least, keeping them to a minimum).
Rich.

That was my logic when I bought my truck...
Nothing extra that can go wrong, right? Other than anti-locks...
No computers, though...

I'm pretty confident that they've saved me from a total wreck at least once; in general I like them at speeds above 70 miles per hour...

Most people will only utilize their ABS is a straight panic stop.
They are best used in conjunction with manuevering. Yet, most people will just panic, stomp the brake and brace for impact.

I know how you feel about them new-fangled vehicles. mom has a brand new '06 burban. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but I'll take my CTD any day. Just too many buttons and unnecessary features for me.
