Tires...Change or stay with the same?

Time for new sneakers on the rig and would like some input from you guys. Currently run 35x12.50R17 BFG Muds that have approximately 50k+ on them. Was looking into the Toyo M/T's as members on this board have had good luck with them. However, they are about $30 more per tire. Can't make up my mind whether to stay with the BFG's or switch to the Toyo's. Also, do you guys buy the Road Hazard along with the tire? Thats another $35 or so per tire. Any input would be appreciated.

What are your needs? Start with how often you are on, and off road with the tires. I have been very satisfied with BFG A/Ts on my 92 Jeep Cherokee. Have you checked the Mickey Thompson line? If I had a 4-wheel Dodge, with the need for mostly off-road....thats where I would go for performance. Just my 2 cents. Have fun with your 4-wheel drive!

I wouldn't bother with a hazard warranty on either of those tires. The Toyo MT's are quieter and balance with much less weight. Buy the lifetime balance and rotation.

I'd honestly spring for the Toyos. They have been a good tire, and I peronsally I really like them (looks and performance so far..). But if money is an issue get the BFGs. 50K out of an Mud tire is amazing. On the road hazard, depends on what you do and where you go. Being in the military, never pays to get the road hazard because I'm constantly moving around. Can't ever verify that the store I bought these tires from will have a sister store in the next area I move to. So I save the money on the Road Hazard.

Thanks for the responses guys. I use my truck primarily as my daily driver, quad and boat hauler, and sometimes the occasional side job such as mulching, stone work, or moving.

Love my Toyo's. Im on my second set.

I would avoid the Mickey Thompsons. I had a set of baja claws. I put them on when I first bought the truck, had them for about a month till I lifted and bought the toyo's. They were so worn in that short amount of time, I would never use them on a fullsize diesel again. I heard the MTZ's are better, but I havent run them.

I am not even considering the Mickey Thompsons, only the Toyo's or BFG's. Will pull the trigger on some Toyo's later today.

I'm going from Toyo A/T's to M/T's in the next week or so - I really liked them. I got 38,xxx out of the A/T's. That's amazing how you got 50k!

I just ordered 285/75/17 Toyo MT's for $310 each, including install at a local shop.

Never hurts to check locallly.

Have a good one.

I always get my tires through 4wheel parts and they have good deals. And as far as the road hazard, I can think of twice when I'm glad I spent the extra money to get it. I've got nittos right now, and about a month ago, I completely demolished one. I took it in showed it to them, and no questions asked they had me a new tire for free the next day. Didn't even ask how I did it. Worth the money imo if you end up having bad luck with a tire. Then again, you never know, you might end up going 40k miles with no problems whatsoever and you wasted the money on the warranty. But I'll probably always get it. Think I'm goin with the toyo m/ts next time btw. My nittos look cool, and do good offroad, but they wear way to fast and are too rough for me for a daily driver. About how many miles are yall getting out of your toyos?
