Tire Weight Rating - D rated
Tire Weight Rating - D rated
Found a good deal on Hankook Dynapro m/t 285/70r17. They are a D rated tire with a weight limit of 2910 @ 65psi.
I have always religiously used E rated tires since that is what came on the truck.
I do not haul much weight, just tow an 18ft boat. Is the weight limit of 2910 enough for daily driving?

They're 285lbs each less carrying capacity than most standard E range 3195lb.The 285-70-17 Hankook u mention in E range are 3750lbs @80psi.i would go with the E range to be safe.Anyone else???
Many reputable tire shops and retailers will not install a D range tire on a vehicle specified with load range E. If the vehicle placard on the truck calls for E range tires, then the best practice is to use the same load range and load index when replacing them. Of course doing so may save a few dollars and provide a softer ride, however; the risk is not worth it.
My truck came with Load range C's
When I bought it 6 months ago. It daily drove fine and pulled light trailers with no noticable effect, but when I hauled my 9.5ft slide camper a few weeks ago it was kind of scary. Very unstable. Which is why I had new Load E toyos put on today. I would have to agree that the questions that might be asked in the event of a crash probably aren't worth it.

Thanks for the replies. I was kinda unsettled on putting the D rated tires on my truck. Should have stayed with the gut feeling.
Anyway, settled on some 295 70r17 e rated Nitto Trail Grapplers....
Now, any ideas on wheels? Would like to get a set of black wheels to put on but not sure of what are the better brands to look at. Let me know if you have any ideas...
