Tire question

Yesterday I did a search about tires and got a lot of interesting information. Still I didn't find my question... or should I say questions.

Bought my 2006, 3500, 6 speed, dually used It has 265/70/17 on it. The sticker on the door says it came with 235/80/17 from the factory.

The 265's are Mud and Snow. They really pick up a lot of stones in the tread and split them out on the bodywork.

I was thinking of getting a set for the summer with a quieter tread pattern.
With these set of tires(265/70/17) on the truck @ 62 mph or 100kph in 6th gear the tach is about 2000rpm.
Is it worth getting another set for the summer?
Would I see any change in fuel useage?
When they(PO) put this new set on did they improve mileage or make it worse?
Should I look for a set that matches the size on the door? (235/80/17)
What would my rear end gear ratio be?
Did they maybe put these set of tires on because the size is easy to find and maybe cheaper?

thanks

Yes... OD is about 31.5" for the 265/70/17

I am assuming that the 265 can carry more weight with being close to the same size (OD) as the 235
