Throttle Response On 06 3500

hey I just found out that the 06's have electronic throttle and the 03-04's had cable throttle...Would this be the reason my 03 seemed alot more torquy when i would jus tap on the pedal???

how do u make the 06's respond better to the throttle, and how do you make em not shift into 4th gear at 50mph so that the truck is struggling????

Not sure about the 4th gear issue, but the other can be fixed with a Smarty Jr.

Yes it would. No vibration coming through the pedal from the cable. Drive by wire has it's +-.

Yeah, that's the cable vs. electronic throttle giving you that feeling. I noticed the same thing when I first got my 06 and it bothered the h@ll out of me. Off the line I even felt my 92' was torque-ier right from the instant that you push the pedal. But, I got used to it, and it doesn't bother me anymore. Smarty Jr. will definitely fix it though, by decreasing the torque management. This will make the engine feel real "peppy" off the line, but it will also decrease transmission life. Everything has it's trade offs unfortunately.

Nope, these trucks have been drive by wire since 98.5 models came out.

Cuz it is.

Its called TQ management to meet emissions and have ZERO smoke. Smarty allows you to remove increments of it until it feels right.

Torque management has nothing to do with meeting emission and having zero smoke. If that were the case than my 92' should be smoking like a train at 1500 rpm, which it doesn't. Torque management is used to "save" the transmission, and make its overall life easier and longer, but the trade off is reduced throttle response.

You don't need that stuff. Get the Smarty FIRST!

What!!! It doesn't smoke like a freight train at 1500 rpm's???? You have GOT to be the only 1st gen owner that does NOT blow smoke.

On the contrary, TQ management is all about emissions and smoke. Otherwise, they would smoke like a freight train and do when you take it off. I guarantee the CR's will NOT pass a snap test without TQM on stock settings.

CR's don't have an aneroid and fuel pin to control the fuel ramp in no boost conditions, thats what TQ management is for. Yes, its misnamed. Its really fuel management in low\no boost condtions and rpm's under 1800.

Fix that 92 so it will make 350 HP at 3200 rpms then go drive it like it had 160 HP. It ain't tire smoke your seein' in the mirrors.

Not roll the coal at 1500 rpm's, that is blasphemy!!!! The good pastor would be most disappointed to hear that.
