Things to look for in an 05??

I just sold my PSD and am looking at an 05 2500 CTD. It only has 33K miles on it and looks to be in showroom condition! Being new to Dodge`s is there anything in particular I should be looking for? Thanks

I know one thing is that some 05's came with plastic intercooler ends that can sometimes crack. I think that it was early 05 models.

I have 2005 with 128000 +/- and the only time it has seen the shop was when I had to have the front end rebuilt at about 87000. Other than that it has been trouble free. I average 19-20 mpg and about 15-17 when towing. I do tend to drive a little slower most of the time, and I do fluid changes more ofter than recommended.

Check for the plastic innercooler. Mine had plastic end caps that were crimped to the metal core. Were the crimp is, there's a rubber o ring there. If you plan on running boost higher than 40psi, I would recomend getting a full metal one. Some guys have had no problems, some guys have. I blew the passenger side tank apart running 45psi. It came apart where the tank is crimped to the core. Other then that, I've just had normal maintence repairs and I just turned over 112,000. Hope this will help alittle.

If you are looking for a 6 speed, try to get the nv5600 vs. the G56 tranny. The 5600 is more stout and gives you a deeper OD. Other than that good luck -I love mt 05
