Sorry, my point wasn't to be an @$$ but instead just to point out that not only does how you drive affect mileage, but that our definitions of "City" might vary as well. Rush hour in Ames, IA vs my drive home are very different beasts.
My comment wasn't directed at you. It was more of stating my own curiosity about what different types of traffic would produce as far as MPG with a speciffic truck.

I know big city traffic results in very different style of driving then small city driving (Los Angeles compared to any city in Iowa).

We have as bad of trafic as any big city, espesaly Los Angeles. During rush hour on the drive home trafic is hecktic here in Iowa. If you want to see REAL bad trafic just come here and check your milage. When all 500 of us in town get on the roads at the same time it is totale caios.

Just kidding

Shoot, both my feet are in my mouth!

I like Ames, lived there two years full time of the four years I was in school at ISU! One year at a house on Lynn right in the middle of the greeks. Another what *was* way north, just north of Cub Foods. It's been built up quite a bit since I lived there.

I remember there being traffic where, you know, you couldn't make it through the light on the first green, it was horrid. Have friends who still live in town and love to get back just for Battle's BBQ and Great Plains Sauce and Dough. Yummy. Nevermind stopping at the old HyVee west of town on our way out to Ledges park to burn stuff and cook meat. Shoot, West Ames is all built up too. Loved shooting at the Izzac Walton League... It was a great town, and some really great people too.

I was just thinking that city means different things to different people. We're from all over and trying to compare one stat, MPG, which seems somewhat foolish, even for highway.

Heck, even my drive home from work is very different from my coworkers who live closer to the city. PLUS my MPG will vary greatly depending on if I'm trying to be agressive traffic guy or more laid back. Better MPG but more people cutting in front of me, or burn more fuel to get home 10 seconds earlier? Hmmm.... it IS fun to goose the ol 600.

I'm getting the same exact mileage as you a nd have the same combo city/highway. Must just be the deal. It really hasn't gotten any better since I got it Mar 21st.

Test drove an 04.5 6-sp Ext cab Long bed.

Reset the over head going down the hwy and it went to an average over 6 miles of 13.6mpg. Nothing I wanna buy. It was with 3.73 gears. Of course when I got done with the test drive she only had 12 miles on her so she's new but my 02' got 19 mpg first tank starting out at 26 miles on the odometer.

Could be the build dates... mine is an early build date truck and gets 12mpg. Over the weekend I test drove a new one that was getting in the low 20's. Not sure of the build dates on that one, but I will try and find out this week... when I'm at the dealer... trying to trade mine for it!!
