Tarnsfer Case Leak??? Allready?

So I crawled under my truck yesterday to do a routine transfer case oil change and was dismayed to find the entire lower half of the case wet with oil.

I pulled the fill plug out first and couldn't reach the fluid with my finger, I drained it and got a good amount out but it was obviously lower than it should be.

The super frustrating part is basically the whole case looks wet, the bottom half of the case is soaked in oil.

What are the common suspects?

I also noticed while I was down there that my left front axle seal is leaking as well.

And so it begins........

Just bumping this up to see if anybody has ideas or input where to look for a leak on these T-Cases.

Output shaft area is dry but the ase itself is soaked in oil about half way up and all the way around.

Almost looks particularily wet near the actuator? But very hard to tell when it's so dirty.

Thanks.

Could be a crack in the case. Mine is leaking bad but it appears to be where the case and the trans meet. So either the output seal on the trans or the input on the transfer is leaking. problem is I haven't been able to get much info on the parts. I need to look at it this weekend.

Good luck with it.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm affraid of Ronp is a cracked case, by the look of the way the oil is spread around I think you could be right
I'll have to get a couple cans of brake cleaner and crawl around there and see what I can find after I clean it good.

Doesn't look to me like it's coming from any seals, so that's why I'm suspicious of a crack.

Anybody else have that happen?

Are they prone to crack and what causes it?

T-Case seems to function normally with no noises or issues.

Had similar problem on my 01

Ended up being the siliconed seal inbetween the case halves.

Took the shop two times, but they got it sealed up and fixed.
