Thanks in advance for your help. I just ‘’bought’’ a dodge cummins 2003 with less than 220 000 km on it. I got it very cheap, but it doesn’t start. The last owner changed the batteries and tried to find the problem with the wires and finally gave up. This cummins has a in tank lift pump from factory. When I turn on the key, I don’t hear the tank lift pump working. I disconnected the wires and I can measure 11.4 volt between the black wire (ground) and the bleu/black wire (beside the green/white wire, see picture). There is no voltage between the green/white and the black (ground) and no voltage between the bleu/black beside the black (when someone turn on at the same time I measure voltage). Can you help me to trouble shoot this issue? Before I open the ECM, I want to make sure I do a good diagnostic. It would be nice to have the wire diagram of this 2003 dodge cummins.
Good morning. The light blue/black and the black/light blue wires are for the fuel level indicator. The dark green/white and the black are for the pump.
I would suggest you disconnect the connector and measure continuity at the pump side of the connector between the dark green/white and the black . If you have no continuity, the pump is bad.
Check on the harness side between the dark green/white and a good ground for voltage when you turn the key on and bump the starter. You should have voltage for a few seconds, I don't remember how many.
Good luck, back to morning brew . . . '03 Fuel Pump
