>>> key - switch wiring <<<
1991.5 LE-cab tilt-column.
These seven wires are all contained within the main pigtail that connects at the key-switch.
There are four separate little wires on a different pigtail that I assume only have to do with the lighted ring, right ??
Key-switch wires --- what does each one do ??
In order :
1. RED = HOT
2. BLACK/white stripe = (what I know so far) wipers, A/C clutch, Radio(aftermarket so may differ from OEM)
What else does this #2 wire power ??
3. BLACK/red stripe = I could not find any activity that this performed.
What does this #3 wire power ??
4. PINK/black stripe = HOT
5. Very skinny BLACK/? stripe = I could find no activity that this wire performed.
What does this #5 wire do ??
6. BLUE = gauges, buzzer, fuel-solenoid, brake information center (water-in-fuel, wait-to-start, etc.)
What else for wire #6 ??
7. YELLOW = engages the starter --- anything else ??
Any further information on the functions of these seven wires would be appreciated.
I assume that the color-codes continue at the bottom of the column harness, right ??
Thanks.

Okey dokey, I got the secret code of that wiring diagram deciphered, I think.
That little bitty BLACK/grey-stripe wire, #5 in my list above, is wire # P51 in the diagram.
The diagram shows that wire only going to the BRAKE indicator light --- I guess to let one know that bulb is functional when the key is first turned ON.
And, to the MESSAGE CENTER --- I guess to light it up likewise.
Seeing as how the grid-heaters have been long gone, the RWALs will very soon be history, and the water-in-fuel wires have hung un-plugged for many years and will remain so, will I have any negative issues were I to eliminate that particular wire from the mix ??
I intend to install a separate park-brake indicator in an entirely different location.
Thanks.
