synthetic oil

Is anyone running Mobil 1 5w40 synthetic oil in there common rail 5.9l

As a fleet manager, I use Mobil Delvac 1 in 27 Dodge Ram CTD's (company vehicles). In addition to Delvac 1 oil, Mobil offers their Turbo Diesel Truck 5/40 as well. Do you have a specific question?

My father ran it in his 2000 7.3 PSD seemed to run just fine. IIRC TDI guys love the stuff.

no particular question, just looking for feedback, pro's and con's of and any issues related to switching from standard 15w40 to the synthetic 5w40 oil

Pros:

Easier start up in the winter
Synthetics are supposed to resist thermal break down better..
