Swapping rear end questions

I have an 05 2500 4X4 auto with CTD and my buddy is going to trade in his 08 2500 2X4 Hemi that he said I can swap rear ends before he does. My diff is open 3.73 that has a lot of slop (backlash) with leaking pinion seal in it and his is Tru trak (posi) 3.73 that is tight with no leak. Is this going to be a simple swap or would there be more involved than I am thinking? They look pretty much the same to me.

Did they use the 11.5 axle on the Hemi? If so, it could be done.

I am not sure, however, have him look in his glove box for an information sticker, it will tell you which rear end he has.

I looked at the window sticker and it had 3.73 and Sure Grip or Tru Trak but nothing about it being 10.5 or 11.5. I went to mag-hytech and they had a note saying

AA 14-10.5 Bolt Pattern has two top and bottom bolts @ 11:00 & 1:00 O'clock & 7:00 & 5:00 O'clock for quick identification.

OR #AA 14-11.5 Bolt Pattern has one top and one bottom bolt @ 12:00 O'clock & 6:00 O'clock for quick identification.

I will have to look at the cover and see where the bolts are located.

i'm pretty sure he has the 10.5. that and i don't know how well those posi's will hold up to the torque form our motors. they are clutch style and the ones in the 11.5 are worm gear style.
