Surging under low speed load

Surging under low speed load
This is bad timing. I've got a long drive next week for a very important hunting trip and my 06 2500 with Auto is acting up. Going slow, like 5 mph or less, and under load, like when towing or going up a steep hill, I get multiple surges in rapid succession. Like a mild bucking sensation. Any idea what might cause this? Other than under these circumstances the truck runs and shifts perfectly.

Update: definitely transmission related. Happens when truck is selecting between 1 and 2 gear. Around 10-15 mph and only while tranny is cold, and under a load like a hill or towing. Once it heats up, it's fine. Any ideas what I might be looking at?

mostt Likely Due To A Faulty Pressure Regulator Sensor And Our Solenoid. Easy To Fix And Cheap. Drop The Pan And Filter And It Is Right There. Adust Your Third And Fourth Gear BanD While You Have The Pan Dropped. First And Second Gear Band Is On The Oitside Of Tranny. There Are Several ARticals On This In This Forum

Band misinformation
Third and 4th gears don't have a band so there's nothing to adjust.the adjuster on the outside of case is 2nd gear only and the adjuster inside is mainly for reverse but is applied in manual low for decel holdback.4th is clutchpacks in rear of overdrive section and 3rd is clutch pack inside drum under front band.1st gear is the next clutch pack toward rear of 3rd and is active in all forward gears and 3rd applies with rear band for reverse. Maybe this will help you
