Strange sound while shutting down
04 5.9 while shutting down i hear a short high pressure air release sound(Pssssst) and today I noticed the air restriction gauge on the air filter box has the top blown off. It appears I have air moving back out the intake. does anyone know what would cause this? My only guess is a suck valve.
Thanks

you do not have air blowing out the gauge it just came apart. pull the gauge out and duck tape over the hole until you can get a new one. if you do not it can pass large enough dirt particles to damage the turbo.

Where are you located? I think I have a spare one sitting on the shelf...
That or find a plug at homet depot and just plug it, it doesnt really do much anyway since if the truck isnt stock youll suck it down anyway...

Are you sure the noise you're hearing isn't the infamous belt squeak a Cummins is known for?
Basically when you shutdown the accessories are saying go and the Cummins says whoa... and the belt squeaks.
There is an overrunning clutch available for the alternator or use a Goodyear Gatorback belt... or just live with it.
I agree with those above though, get the hole for the filterminder plugged up! Welcome to the site.
