Stored truck; prime turbo bearings with oil?
Stored truck; prime turbo bearings with oil?
I've had my truck stored for six months. A gear head tells me I should prime the turbo bearings before I start the truck. I say "are you kidding?". I am thinking there must be residual oil on the bearings...enough to satisfy them until the unit gets full oil supply a few seconds later. I wonder if the turbo is even hardly moving before the oil gets to the bearings...?
Anyone know for sure if I should go through the exercise of priming the bearings?

I would think that it would be like any engine stored for some time. No oil anywhere. Wonder if you could crank it over to get the oil pump pumping w/o injecting. I'm no mechanic though.
Be sure to use some Stabil and change the oil when you get back. Thinking moisture might be able to build up in the crankcase from heating/cooling??? Like I said not a mechanic.
