Question Stock Gears?

Does anyone know what the stock gearing in the rear end of an 04 2500 is? I have a 6 spd manual, QCSB 4X4 with the H.O for 04 305/555 if that helps anyone.

3.73 or 4.10 Easiest is to look on the sticker under the hood, or look at the tag on the rear covers. The tag is on one of the cover bolts........

I think they have 3.73 and 4.10 rearends. There should be a tag on the cover held on by a cover bolt that will say.

The AAM axles on the 3rg gens don't have tags on them. But the '04 should have a sticker or tag in the glove box that will show axle ratio.

Might have to have someone call the dealer with the VIN...they should be able to tell you.

Yup, have someone call a dealer with the VIN and they can run you a build sheet with all info about the truck. Also if you can remember what RPM your turning at 60 mph I bet someone can chime in with their ratio which should help you.

BTW, thank you for sacrificing your time and safety for our freedom!

@55mph I hit about 1600 RPM in 6th gear, in 5th gear 55mph is @2900 RPM and for 60 mph in 6th gear is a little closer to 1800 RPM. From what I can remember.

I am thinking that you have a 3.73. I have an 04.5 with a nv 5600/3.73 and in 6th gear at 60 mph I run about 1800 rpms.

Exclamation

I wouldn`t even consider a gear swap , if I were you... for less money you could buy ANY chip/programmer and get way better results than a gear swap.

If you really wanted to do it 4.56s are the lowest you can get...best for acceleration...worst for anything over 45mph with stock tires
