Squealling noise?
Seems like when I let my clutch out I get a slight squealing noise from my rearend. It only seems to do it when I just start to take off. As soon as I am moving it stops. What do you guys think it could be? Its getting me a little worried, hopefully nothing serious. Thanx in advance.....JK
I am getting a squealing in my driveline when I am in reverse, some thought it was the rear driveline u joints.
in my old 4runner, when I would let the clutch out and hear a squeal, it meant that the clutch was going out. ended up just replacing the flywheel and bearing.

does it squeal in pace with the speed of the truck (squeal more as you speed up, and less when you slow down)? it might be the same as mine, and be the rear u joints.
man, I dont know what to tell you on that one. mine only did it in reverse, and then once I was going forward, it went away.
have you tried jacking up the back end, and spinning the tires? see if you can reproduce the noise that way?

when trying to figure out where the sound is coming from think abouts what is moving on the truck. u-joints with creak and groan due to slight changes in the driveline geomerty, like under fast take off or breaking when the front dips, or backing up/down a slight incline. then the sound can go away when cruising on level ground. rear suspension can squeak sometime too, see if the suspesion is cycling at all when you hear it. not much else i can think of on rear end that usually squeaks, diff. seems to grind more, and rear hubs shouldn't get better once you get going if they were seizing up, but jacking up the rear end and spinning the wheels would confirm that and you could see if the breaks make any noise.
does the sound seem to be directly related to letting out the clutch or to the movement of the truck once the clutch grabs?

noise
It def seems to make the sound once the clutch grabs and I am taking off. I have noticed it too it gets to be a little louder when starting out going up hill or down hill. Its def not a grind though.
I would really suspect it is rear u-joints. It seems that trucks w/ manual trannies go through them faster, and extra power doesn't help. I had to replace mine at 30K and they were bone dry. Not that hard or expensive to do, and you can replace them with greasable ones.
Noticed a small leak near where the rear driveshaft goes into the rear pumpkin. Is the seal a pain to change? Is it a warranty issue? Also I checked my dipstick on my nag hytec diff cover and had plenty of fluid, w/ a bit fine metal on it? Is that a usual thing that occurs? Ive had them on for about 20,000 miles. How often do u change the fluid?
