Question squeak in front end while turning

Hey all, must be the time for parts to start failing. I just replaced rear u-joint and new brake caliper yada yada yada. Now I've noticed a squeak in my front end somewhere when I'm turning. It happens more so when turning left but also maybe a little when turning right. Anyone have this problem? Just trying to gather some ideas before digging in.
Thanks in advance!!
Eric

Ive heard that dreaded squeak before and its not powersteering, its more than likely the ujoint in the front by the knuckle... Jack your truck up and turn the wheel to the side it is squeaking the most. turn the tire by hand and see what it feels like.then turn the wheel straight and feel the difference. let us know what you find.

Leave the truck in 2 wheel drive. Jack up the front end and spin both front wheels. Turn the steering wheel to lock in one direction and try to spin both wheels again. Turn the other way and repeat. If one of your u-joints is bad there will be binding (rotational)when your spin your tire while the steering wheel is turned. Whichever tire is binding while you spin is the one with a bad u-joint. another symptom is it feels like your truck is in 4 wheel drive while turning. Hope this helps.

^^X2^^ when ever the tire is spinning, mine felt like it had a bind and it would jerk the wheel almost to a complete stop. mine was in bad shape too... once i heard the squeak, i never thought much of it until it felt like i was in 4 wheel drive when i went to turn.

When mine was sqweaking, I used a spray can of lithium grease to find mine - a little squirt on one U-Joint at a time, then drove in circles till I found the bad one. Lots of good info on replacing them in this forum.

Horse,

My front axle U joints were dry and stiff at 100,000 miles. I replaced them during the Dynatrac install with greaseables.

It might be time to go ahead and upgrade to a free spin kit while you're in there. It's so easy for me to spend your money.

Mine did the same noise. I thought wheel bearing but turned out to be the front shaft U-Joint on the left side.

Can't take credit for that advise... Read it in another message somewhere on this forum. Saved me some time and effort.

Not too bad of a job if you have patience, a big breaker bar (I used 3/4" drive) and some time. Took about 3 1/2 hours for my first one - took the axle shaft over to a shop and had them press the old one out and the new one in ($20 well spent for me anyway).
