splitter

I have an 03 4x4 with the 4:10 rears love it for pulling but hard on the fuel when not pulling was wondering if there are any companys out there building a Splitter or 7 speed or something like that. Thanks for any help

Ya I looked at that some but it is darn pricey.

When you figure it out, if you average say 3 mpg better, it will only take around 260,000 miles to pay for itself, not a bad deal

Has anybody ever looked into having a custom ring and pinion done to lower the rpm in 6th? I hardly ever use 1st gear even when pulling my trailer. I would like another gear when on the highways. Maybe something around the 3.45 or so. I think calculations would need to be done. Any engineers on site??

Yes you might be correct but over the life of the truck (will be 300k for me) I think spending $$ on taller tires would be about a wash for fuel economy.
