fuel system
fuel system
A friend bought an 03 about 3 months ago. It currently has 10,000 miles on it. He did his second service last night. When he went to change his fuel filter it had no fuel in the bowl. The bowl is on the pressure side of the fuel pump, if Im not mistaken. We are both diesel mechanics and work on the big rigs. If there is an empty fuel filter than there is a fuel problem. My question is, has anyone changed there fuel filter and found the bowl empty or full.
We also believe he has a power problem. We should check fuel pressure. I suppose we will have to order new banjo fittings from Rod to check pressures.
If no one responds to this, than I will continue to kick his a$$ on the hills in my 92 Dodge CTD
I would like to help him but I sure enjoy blowing his doors off with my 92

Re:fuel system
I just changed my fuel filter for the first time yesterday, 12,000 miles, and the bowl was full of fuel. I am glad I changed it, the filter was the same color as my truck, black.

Re:fuel system
It should definitely be full. Its possible that the lift is allowing fuel to drain back. Has he had a stutter at all during wide open runs?
