Specs for the new axles

I'm familiar with the ratings and specs for the Dana front/rears on the 2nd gen trucks, but since DC has changed to a different supplier for the axles I am wondering what the ring gear size is on the front and rear axles. Also what are the weight ratings of these new axles?

Here is some info on differentials:

TracRite? Differentials

TracRite?Open
TracRite?LK
TracRite?CC
TracRite?PC
TracRite?GT
TracRite?GTL
TracRite?EL
TracRite?ECV

AAM has the experience and expertise you're looking for in a supplier of top-quality driveline components. We can provide axles with differential-based handling and traction-enhancing capabilities that are designed to perform for the entire life of the vehicle. AAM's custom-designed TracRite?GT is one of the most reliable ways of getting power to the ground. And our other products are just as reliable and state-of-the-art. Our engineers can work with you in selecting the right TracRite? differential for your application

TracRite?Open

The open differential design in AAM's TracRite? open differential allows free differentiation of a vehicle's wheels. The TracRite? open differential serves as the foundation for all of AAM's differentials, which include net-formed differential gears for low-lash and piloted side gears combined for the quietest operation possible. These foundation features are found in all of AAM's differentials. These benefits, combined with our engineers' advanced knowledge of AAM's NVH testing, allow for the quietest drive yet. And, at the same time, the TracRite? open differential is still our most cost-effective, lowest-mass differential available.

This AAM differential should be available as an option on the 4 x 4s:

TracRite?GTL

AAM's TracRite? GTL differential is leading the way in technology. The TracRite? GTL has added a locked mode. The locked mode is available automatically ? via a programmed computer or driver selectable, or both. The TracRite? Re:Specs for the new axles

From what I can figure out, all of the 3500's and the manual trans 2500's get the 1150. Auto 2500's get the 1050.

The Boss Hog

Re:Specs for the new axles

Thank you. Seems to me like the Dana 60's they used to use on the front had a 9.75" ring gear - looks like the American is a lighter axle than what was on there before. Thanks again for the info.

Re:Specs for the new axles

Don't go off from ring gear size to say how axles compare. Generally the ring and pinion are not the weak link, it is the axles shafts themselves. What we really need to know is axles shaft size comparisions, bigger ring gear don't mean squat if the rest of the stuff don't equal out.

Good example is the old crysler 9-1/4" rear axle, has a 9-1/4" ring rear. The Dana 60 rear has 9-3/4", well that is only 1/2" defference so one must be as good as the other. Well the Dodge 9-1/4 is complete junk compared to a Dana 60, no way around it.

These numbers are good for advertising though, 90% of the public doesn't know the difference, or what they are buying so they get by with it. Its bigger it must be better?
