South Bend.. weird noise...
I have a dual disc 3250 in my truck. I had it installed about a month or a month and a half ago.
At first everything was normal. Broke it in properly and all that.
After About 3 or 4 weeks... once in a while starting from a stop when letting the clutch out. As soon as it starts to grab... there is a... rubbing noise. I guess the closest I could describe it would be a shopping cart wheel not turning and rubbing along the floor.
At first it only happened a couple times.... but this past week or two its making the sound almost every time I start from a stop.
Today it did it really bad... it was almost like the truck didn't want to move for a second. I almost stalled it.
Anyway normally I would've taken it in right away, but I couldn't take any time off work what so ever. I stopped by the tranny shop today and its going in to be looked at next week.
I was just wondering if any of you guys had similar experience? Or any idea what it might be??
I was thinking maybe a spring broke and the clutch is flexing to one side or something? No clue really...

Are you giving it fuel when you takeoff or idle off the line? I get a noise similar, like a resonance coming off the shifter, a kind of chatter. Seems normal because of the extra plate load, in your case the DDs are known to be noisy clutches. They are grabby too, grabby enough to pull the rpms down low.
I drove an unladen '05 G-56 w/3250 and found it smooth and not grabby at all. No unusual noises and the expected neutral clatter. The owner says under extreme load it is grabby though. Call Peter.
lol that made me laugh.....my truck would just drive over a shopping cart.
It was perfectly smooth for the first couple weeks... now its gotten a lot more grabby.
Either way I'm not worried. I have full confidence that if it is an issue with the clutch SB will take care of it.
I mainly just posted to see what ideas people would have because I'm curious.

I have a sound like that .but my truck made it before the clutch and became worse after. My DTR brothers have the sound narrowed down to the rear u-joints. I haven't changed them yet but I am pretty confident that is it.

Ya i don't think its a u joint because it only does it until the clutch is fully let out. I was thinking it could be the rear driveshaft binding a bit cuz of the angle possibly...... I'll have to check that.....
