I was changing my oil yesterday on my 03. I noticed a drip of fluid on the bottom of the belt tensioner. I followed the trail up and it looks like it might be coming from where the alternator pulley is. It is a rusty looking substance that is the consistency of water. The same color stuff that looks kind of baked on is on the side of the air box and around the outside of the alternator where it has gotten thrown by the rotation of the belt or pulley. Any ideas as to what is going on. My truck is very close to the 70,000 mile mark.

 

Sounds water pump related. Been loosing any coolant?

Which one of those pulleys is the water pump? It is not the color of my coolant?

 

I found the water pump. Is there a weep hole like some pumps have to see if it is bad? Where is it?
