Smoking and shudder

Hi to all, I am new to the forum and have a problem with my 04 diesel 6 speed standard. I bought this truck new, it has 79,000 miles on it and it is serviced every 4,000 miles. New fuel filter every 8,000 miles and air filter every 16,000 miles. I pull a heavy trailer on a daily basis and on taking off under accelaration I notice shudder type miss and black smoke out of the tailpipe when this happens. Any input on this would be greatly be appreciated.

You may have a shorted out wire that runs next to the A/C compressor's high side line. It is notorious for rubbing through the insulation. This wire supplies 5V for the cam sensor among a few other things. There is a thread on this already. Title says "You may have a shorted out wire" I think. It's been a while.

I found out what my shudder was on accelaration, the middle U-joint was bad, no vibration when I take off now. I have a friend with a diagnostic tool and we will clear the code and see if the wire loom trick worked for me. Thanks
