Smarty Jr.

I have an 06 with approx 80k on it now. I usually tow around 7-9k. I'm considering the smarty jr. the truck has been great to this point, and don't want to create any large repair bills, but would like some extra power when needed. it says its safe for the tranny, and no guages necessary for towing within the trucks limit. I just don't want any injector or tranny problems. I know these can occur without the smarty. I want it,but if any one has had any issues with it please let me know. thanks for your help

You will have nothing to worry about with the SmartyJr, you will enjoy lower egts, better fuel mileage, and much better response that is safe for a stock tranny. However 60hp is the recommended tow setting. Should be no injector problems because the current Smarty does not add pressure. Tranny will depend on what shape its in, but the way Smarty delivers its power you shouldn't have any problems. I would also recommend you get gauges to keep a monitor on everything(boost, pyro, trans temp).

I have had no problems with Smarty jr. Other than intake and exhaust my truck is stock and i love the throttle response that the Jr gave me. The fuel milage seems to be pretty good on the 40HP setting (Economy) but the power and response on the 70HP (Towing) is unbelievable! There is another setting 100HP (Performance) but I haven't used that yet, I don't think I need that. Even though Jr probably wouldn't cause problems at that level, I too worry a little bit. I think the 70HP level is perfect.

Gauges are always a good suggestion too, just to keep an eye on everything, At least a pyro.

There are far too many of these threads, it seams every day somebody starts a Smarty Jr. thread!

I just got mine, I can get 22 mpg on level 1, 20 mpg on levels 2&3. I can't do that with the cruise on though, I just ease up going up a hill and push on it going down, so my speed varies between 55 and 65, but what the heck, 22 mpg from a 610 is pretty great! Or actually 22 mpg from a 680 is great!

Now go look at BigBoyinMS's post about his new Smarty Jr and the sudden vibration he's getting. Probably his torque converter.

I know that I could burn my TC, rip out a u-joint, or toast my truck engine, but you live once, so just do it. The 70 setting is my favorite so far, and the way I drive, I won't hurt anything, but if I do, I'll deal with it. In the mean time I'm loving it!
