Yep. Take the intake tube off, inside the turbo you'll see a silver ring held on by a smooth snap ring in a groove. Get a tiny flathead screw driver and pry one end of the snapring up and out of the groove. Pull the snapring all the way out, and the silencer ring will fall out.

Note: Be very careful not to get any forigen material in the turbo, or slip and nick the intake wheel...

It's easy. Take off your air filt.tube on the front of turbo. You'll see a ring/keeper, it's in a machined groove. I used a small tip screwdriver to lift up and twist the keeper out, just work your way around. After it's out the 'cone' flops out. It took me less than a minute after I took off the air tube.

It's just has easy as they are telling you. It will take you longer to remove the air intake tube then it will to remove the silencer ring. Once you removed it put it up and save it just in case you ever want to put it back in....

Yes this is most important, don't destroy it like some people. I don't think I had mine out for over a week. Besides making the truck have a kinda weird sounding turbo whistle the design may actually help direct the air into the turbo better.

I must be the unlucky one. Ive had 2 CR Cummins and on both of them the gap on the snap ring was positioned at 10 o'clock, so I couldnt see what I was doing. It took about 45 minutes and a lot of patience. The second go around, I knew what I was in for, so it took about 10 minutes of frustration.
The key is dont get rough with it and damage something. It really doesnt make that big of a difference with it in or out. We all have to do it though.

MAN LAW!

I put mine back in too....I LOVE the way a turbo whistles , but I don`t feel that it made mine do that. It made more of a wooshing sound, that was most noticeable @ highway speeds with ANY movement of the skinny pedal . Sounded like I was constantly on-off the throttle....

Funny how everyones opinion differs so much. Some say little difference, some say allot, some hate it,some love it,some say it changes the pitch, some say it don't. You get the idea, just try it,not hard to put back in if you don't like it.
I personally love it and to my ears it made a HUGE difference but you need to gut the intake tube to get the full effect. I'd like to have an aftermarket intake to make it even louder!

I had the same problem on my truck. I had to get at it from under my truck.

I got lucky when i did mine. Mine snap ring was sitting right at 6:30...I removed the silencer ring & the baffle in my air intake. I turbo has a nice whistle to it. Something pleasant to listen to when there is nothing on the radio..

same here. Took me about 10 minutes to remove the intake tube and pull the snap ring and silencer. It was a bit more challenging to get the baffles out of the intake tube and i finally resorted to a sawzall to cut the baffles free.

the truck now has just the right amount of whistle. I can hear it inside without the radio on, or easily drown it out with the radio on. With the windows down, it is very easy to hear.

I ordered a "Eliminator Pipe" from Gino's Garage. Just remove the stock baffle and install the replacement pipe. Easy to do and looks good also. Not cutting, No Mess. Still have the stock baffle if ever needed.
