shifting problem

It's been a while since I posted and I posted this to another thread- sorry 'bout that! At any rate...

I have a 2004.5 Dodge 4x4 auto with about 165,000 miles on it.

I replaced the 1 to 2nd gear solenoid with a GM solenoid about 60-70,000 miles ago.

Now, it hangs in 1st gear until about 2000 to 2500 RPM before it shifts into second. Under light throttle, pulling a light load, going up hill, it feels like it slips out of second into neutral. When I back off the throttle it goes into second. With light throttle pressure again, in about 10 seconds it happens again.

The problem only seems to exist under light throttle, with a light load, going up hill. More or heavier throttle in second seems to keep it from happening.

All else seems to be the same. Also I have about 10-15,000 miles on this trans fluid and filter change.

Any ideas?!?

sotex,

My truck did the exact same thing. Eventually 2nd gear went out completly. It continued to hang in 1st gear like yours does then it would shift from 1st to 3rd. Skipping 2nd altogether. I adjusted the fwd band but it didnt help. I ended up pulling the transmission and found the fwd band completly worn out to the point where it scratched up the drum.

I ran a diagnostic on it today and it indicated that the transducer (it regulates pressure) is faulty. I'm going to replace it to see if that fixes the issue. THANKS for responding - I'll let you know!

I have the same problem but I didn't know about transducer. Where is it located and how did you change it, is it hard? Thanks.
