To Sell 600 or Not???
Man I could only wish for an average of 13.7 MPG. I'm getting about 12 MPG. I'm really not to concerned about it but have seen some highway mileage increases. I now have 24K on my truck and get about 12.5 in the city and 15-16 on the highway. I have 4.10's and the extra wheels to add to the loss in mileage. Good Luck.
I've worked in a dodge shop, part of that answer you have on your desk is a tech who seen an easy way to get an hour of diag. and not have to do any warranty work (pays less than cust. pay). See if you can get them to do a pcm and ecm reprogram, I doubt that the ecm would have anything to do with it. I will ask some of my buddies about any TSBs out on that right now. When you bought the truck don't they have like a 23mpg highway milege thing on the window sticker?
600 mpg
hey boojie hold on before you bash all of us dodge techs
. if shinden was under 36 / 36 basic warranty he should not be charged a diag fee. it gets old seeing alot of guys on here and other fourms calling the dealer ( steelers ) i bust my butt trying to make a living working for a dodge dealer and have been doing it for 23 years now. i dont treat any customer that brings there vehicle in for service any different than i would expect to be treated myself. i go buy the same labor guide that idependent garages use when it comes to customer pay labor rates, and yes warranty labor does pay me less, but chrysler doesnt acuse me of overcharging them either .difference is i fix it the first time and dont have to call back and tell the customer the bill is going to be a little more because i also found this wrong. i write an estimate and do it for what i quoated the first time. many times i will take some time off the labor to help the customer out . boojie who do you work for now PEP BOYS
. yes i will admit there is some dishonest techs out there in all dealers and independent garages. i also own a new 600 and my mpg is 14 city and a best of 18 hwy empty. i talked to our zone tech rep and he assured me there were some tsb coming soon to address the mpg issues. sorry to rant on an on guys but it just gets old people knocking the dealer , try taking your diesel to pep boys or firestone or some other independent and watch there guys scratch there heads when it comes time to repair it .

dealer service
Hi Durango.
I have to agree with you as well as disagree, you are as a company "DC" make playing field very uneven for new truck repairs, DC does not sell or allow to use their computers or hand helds by any other repair service not even a Cummins, so everybody else is at disadvantage here.
That allows DC to keep things under wrap if it comes to common knowledge about problems with particular system or line.
I do get great service from my dealer, unfortunately it does not solve my problems, it's like going for dinner and getting great service and going home hungry, no help.
What bother me most is ignorance from DC, I have been on the phone with them on couple of occasions, same as dealer O.K. service no help, I have hoped that they would help me with some money ether for fuel or for getting new truck 305/555, nothing there.
I am at the end of the line with this issue, next logical step for me is to bash their product and try to persuaded others not to buy it, and any other legal action would add insult to injury with more expenses.
It's not that I can not afford the fuel, but whole purpose of buying this truck is economy I don't pull anything big just lots of driving, we are very unfortunate in North America to have only three manufacturers of diesel powered vehicles, somehow in most other places cars and trucks are more efficient and have less problems, lack of competition creates problems that we are having, every generation lover fuel economy etc, and that's not only DC.
Sorry for the length, Jack.

Seems like to me yall guys with the auto's are getting less milage...I have a 04.5 600 6spd DRW 4x4 quad....My comp say 16.1 average right now and it only has 650 miles on it....I would be leary about buying a 6.0 to replace it....Be glad mileage is the only thing thats wrong...could have diesel in you oil, several new injectors, dead pedal, 20 flashes, and poor mileage...give it a little while longer...The dealer where i bought mine told me that mileage will increase alot after 10, 000....It also says that on that sticker that was on you cig lighter when you bought it....
MPG figures are NOT posted on trucks.MPG differances a lot of time is DRIVER/SPEED and driving type..Average DEALER TECHS know MORE about the product their working on then the BEST independent techs! Over 2000 rpm and the Cummins mpg falls off.One buddy of mine gets mid teens towing a 3 horse trailer with three horses and my other buddy gets 11.5 towing a small cargo trailer. One NEVER goes over 70 with 3.73 gears and the other never hardly drops under 80(at times 85)mph with 3.73 gears.Guess who gets the best mileage with MUCH more weight?ME I hardly EVER look at that overhead MPG thing anymore.I just DRIVE IT.Mine stays on TEMP and COMPASS.Also I ROMP mine a lot more so every time a Ford or D/max is around.
