Yeah, had it happen yesterday. Up in the mountains, 9000 foot elevation, maybe 20 degrees. Ran bad for 10-15 seconds, then smoothed out, and she was good to go.

I don't think rough running for 10/15 seconds is a three cylinder idle.I think its just plain rough running.

I have to agree with Hounddog. It is not normal. I have been around diesels my whole life (not saying I am the tell all of tell all's, just saying that I have never seen this before) I do not believe it to be injectors either becasue in my experience, when an injector fails it does not run great all of a sudden at an elivated rpm. I have to wonder about the computer as well. Oh well, it hasn't done it since that one time and I know it would be a waste of time to go to the dealer to be told "uh, what rough idle are you talking about, we ain't never heard of such a thing, must just be you!!" LOL!!
