rough shut down

everytime i turn the truck off it will continue running for a second then shake the whole truck alot, my powerstroke never did this or it wasnt as noticable.

could there be anything wrong with it as its brand new?

2006 2500 4x4 6speed all stock...1500 miles.

Shaking the truck at shut down is common in a dodge cummins, but I never heard of running for a second after shut down.

Take it to the dealer for warranty!!

There is alot of compression that stops immediately. The pulleys try to keep spinning. It is pretty normal on a Cummins. Press in on the clutch when you kill it. That will be more smoother even if it is in neutral. TRY IT.

That is how you know you got a serious engine in there. I have seen plenty of big rigs shudder when they shut down.

It seems to be worse with these Dual Mass Flywheels guys. I always depress the clutch when I shut down and it's much less violent. There's a guy on another board that works for the company that makes the DMF and he says that it is the culprit....

Auto

I have auto tranny and my shudders quite a bit at shutdown. I was wondering myself if something was wrong, but it has done it from day 1.

Its normal, but be sure and keep your doors shut until after it stops. Otherwise, you end up with doors that raddle.

4x4Not, The dual mass flywheel is not the same as a dual disc clutch.

All these trucks shutter some when you shut them down. You are stopping a lot of torque. As I said, I always depress the clutch and it's less violent. Maybe you auto guys could try shutting down while in gear and see if that helps. Just don't forget to put it back in park....
