Rough Idle and Surging

Hey guys I could have possibly gotten ahold of a little bad fuel. My truck now has a surging idle and surge while crusing at low rpms. It sounds like my truck now has a cam in it at idle...lol I have changed the filter and I am also on the stock lift pump at 123k. Any help is appreciated. I would like to know if any guys have experienced a problem like this and what was the fix for it because this is driving me nuts.

sorry, I thought I had my sig updated. My truck is an 03 6 speed with Predator and puck, k&n, and exhaust. The truck runs fine at wot but idle makes a surging sound. I reset the truck back to stock and it seems to not be as noticeable and the truck is showing no trouble codes.

Set truck to stock.
If problem still exists, pull fuel filter - drain - clean canister - fill with Sea Foam (fuel treatment) - install filter - RUN IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT !!!!!..

If problem still exists
1. Bad load of fuel
2. Injector problem

I would say it is the predator. I have the same problem. Sometimes it does it and then sometimes it doesn't. A buddy was making fun of it the other day and kept asking me when I put my cam in.

check your FCA.surging at idle and at low speed is a symptom of a bad fuel control actuator.

Add couple of bottles of ashless two stroke to the fuel.See if it clears up with that tank.Next tank add nothing and if it comes back its the FCA and its sticking,

Will the FCA only cause the surge at lower rpms or can in be any where in the rpm range? Why only at partial trottle and not WOT?

Fuel control actuator. The one I had experience with was a good friends 03.He started getting this rough restart hot,bad surge and sometimes a stall going threw a parking lot after eating lunch etc.Erratic idle and such.He never ever used any fuel additives.Someone else told him bad injectors and such.He went and put a entire bottle(16 ounces I think) of Power service in it.It cleared up.Came back next fuel fill up.He ended up putting every fuel system treatment that was available in it.Everthing he put in it cleared it up including Marvel Mystery oil except LUCAS.He did this over several thousand miles! Then I read a post about a way to test the FCA by doing what he had been doing but they said ashless two stroke oil.Still a fuel lube.Anyhow my friend sold the truck(150k and clean hiway miles) and later I was told the new owner got a new FCA at a Cummins store and truck ran great.I found it intersting that many additives cleared up the issue except LUCAS fuel additive. It took about midway of a non treated tank of fuel for symptons to return. He dumped whole bottles in it when he treated it.Easy enough to add a pint or two of two stroke oil or a 16 oz Power Service(I would add some MMO to it also and see if sympon goes away in that tank of fuel.

On the CP3 High injecton pump.Driver side middle of pump with wires going to it.Three torx head screws bolt it down.Screws are VERY tight.Think they have lock tight on them.So be careful about breaking them loose.Price of it through Dodge is three times higher then three Cummins store.

So you are saying that when he used an additive that the problems went away but when on regular ulsd the issues returned? I have set my truck to stock and added some power service which seems to have fixed the problem. If the problem returns can I swap the fca onto my 03 from my bros 06 just to see if it solves the problem. BTW my truck is an 03 with 123k and the stock lift pump, so I was worried the lp was going out.
