,,when cold(40 degrees) my truck idles rough and has a miss for about 2 minutes,,was in the shop for almost 2 week,,dealer don"t know what wrong with it said STAR don"t either,,they never pulled a injector or checked compression,,said to keep driving it,,and if they hear of a fix they will call me,,,,what the hell is that??? this thing smokes like crazy when started in the morning,,,,i just don"t think dodge is standing behind there product,,this is pityfull,,,glad i didn"t buy the extended warranty because warranties obviously don"t mean anything to dodge,,so far i have took the truck in 2 times and 2 times they didn"t fix it,,,drive shaft vib, and rough idle and miss,and excessive smoke on startup,,,

 

Sounds like it could be a leaky injector....maybe. My truck was doing something similar back in the summer. But the idle rough time was only a minute or less. If you rev it up a little it smooths out. I used powerkleen in it to clean the injectors. Dodge did a load test on it and said it had been idled too much. They had a point on that. So I took their advice and used the cleaner. It runs like a top right now. Smokes a little at start up....but its a diesel! The question on your truck is how much smoke and rough idle is too much. I think up to 20 seconds maybe normal....but that's a guess.

 

never idle my truck very long,,,I"m trying meaner cleaner in double doses right now for the injectors,,today at 60degrees it only smoked for about 10 secs,,yesterday at 40 degrees it smoked alot and for about 1 minute,,so i guess I"m okay for the summer,,,

 

mine was doin the same thing too in the mornings. I used a full bottle of meaner kleaner to a full tank.It was much better after that. Now I run some Howes in every tank. No problems since.

 

I too had the rough idle issue. First they replaced 1 inj. next they did the cp3 pump and this time they replaced the remaining 5 inj. so we'll see if that fixed the prob.
