Got an 03' with 64K miles. Bought it about a month ago from a used car dealer.

This morning for the first time, when I went to take off from a dead stop it was skipping 1st gear and starting out from 2nd gear. It did it about 4 times and then all of a sudden started acting fine and no more problems.

Any ideas on what this could be?

 

Has the tranny fluid been replaced recently? That would be my first suggestion - check to see if it's burnt at all. Change it for sure if you don't know if/when it was changed last. My old F350 had burned fluid, and the tranny shattered shortly after that discovery.... my bad for not changing all fluids when I first purchased it. Hard lesson learned.
