rocker arms

I am need of a set of rocker arms. engine started making a ticking noise looks like it is the rocker arms, several are really bad hard to move had to use hammer and punch to remove rocker shaft, all the rest are galled pretty good. also Have at least 1 bent push rod, that one came off #1 exhaust, which the rocker did not have full range of motion by hand. Want to replace the entire set. So far I have found OEM's for about $1300, or roller rockers for $1800. My question is, are there any better prices, don't think I need the rollers, but if that is all the price difference then I would get them as long as they can be ran on a daily driver. Also should I replace the bridges also, or use them, and is there anything else I should check before replacing them. Thanks in advance for any help.

For those reading the thread that have a similar issue, or those that are not aware, galling on the rocker shaft is a common issue. I know some folks (like lazarsmith) have been successful using a coating on the shaft and that is relatively inexpensive. I used roller rockers from Haisley and that has been good for a DD.

Be aware of the problem, have a plan to address it before it gets to the point of the OP.

yes I do... about 30k miles on them now.

What I have is their first generation of RR's where they replaced the bushings with bearings in the stock arms, opened up the oil passages and is not a true RR in the sense of the word and is not what they sell now.

I don't believe they even offer the service I just described any longer.

If your going to buy Cummins rockers get 6.7l ones, they have better oiling. I would also manually check your oil pressure, do you wait for the truck to warm before high rpm? What weight oil do you run?

I never asked, but the ones I bought are supposed to be new Cummins, said it fits to 2011. so hopefully they will be. It never sees high rpm may be 2300 on rare occasions. I run rotella 15-40.

I pulled apart a 2010 6.7 recently and it had the lash caps pressed onto the tips, instead of the rinky-dink plastic retainer.

That's definitely a nice feature.

Mark.
