Is rhis injector knock?
Is this injector knock?
I reciently purchased a new to me 03. After racking up almost 2000 miles i started to notice what sounds like a lifter pecking on a gas engine. I ran a heavy dose of Power Service DieselKleen in the next tank hoping this would stop the ticking. Could this be injector knock?
Still dont know how people can tell about injector knock. These things are quite but still they are loud, shoot the whole engine sounds like a knock to me, until I pull it up next to a loud PowerStroke and the I realize these are quite as can be.
Have noticed that if I dont run truck stop fuel that it does get a bit louder than normal but once I go back it goes back to normal

Venom 617, what brand of fuel do you prefer? Do you realy think that better fuel can really make that big of difference in noise level? I've noticed that Power Service has quieted mine down but it is still louder than I'd like at idle.
I have a friend with a F650 flatbed that has a 5.9 Cummins. She paid extra to get the Cummins in the Ford over the Powerstroke
I can say that her truck is an 04 and that her engine looks identical to ours other than the Bosch CP3 is not on the drivers front of the block. I dont know what the difference is, but her engine much much quieter at idle than my truck. Anyone know what the difference is?

Injector Knock occurs AFTER the engine is warmed up and you can hear it between 800 and 1100 RPM's. I could always tell on mine when ideling along in 3rd gear pulling a trailer on a soft sandy road or with a little load on the engine it would sound like a rod knocking. I have had 3 injectors replaced but since I installed the AirDog I have not (knock on wood) had a problem. I personally think the answer to the problem is better fuel filtering.
Yea I really can tell the differance. I usely run TA fuel, but when I goto Meijers or a local Sunoco station and get that crap that has been sitting around the noise level does increase. So I try to only use Truck Stop Fuel since it doesnt sit around.

I was wondering the same thing. MY 04 when at idel or under very light throttle sounds like a rod is knocking. Once RPM go up to around 800 or 1000 the knock seems to quite down. It doesn't seem to have the knock while driving at normal speeds. Does this sound like the injector knock folks or talking about?
Sounds like injectors to me, I have already had 3 replaced and the noise was less noticable afterwards. Going back in again 5K miles later same thing happening yet once again.....this is really making me ill.
