Reverse Tranny Temp.
I'm backing a 18' steel deck car hauler maybe 100 feet up hill and turning 90 degrees. Everthing is on pavement and the temp goes over 230 in that little distance. tried to use 4x4 but to sharp of turn. Any other suggestions?
Same thing happens to me, I dont know of a way to cure it other than watch the gage (gauge?) and let it cool. Only happens with a HEAVY as in <7000lb load for me, with my 4000lb slide in camper temps dont rise nearly as fast.
If you are backing the trailer often, I would probably look at mounting a trailer hitch on the front and pushing the trailer into place... if it is a bumper pull, would help with visibility, lower those temps, make it easier to get into those tight spots...

Just do what I do when backing the dump trailer up. It can weight up to 18k-20k, I just use 4x4 low till I need to make the turn then I take it out and back into 2x4 make the turn then go back to 4x4 low takes a little more time but it so much eaiser on everything. Alot of times I cant take it out of low due to the type of ground I have to move it through. Then I just end up doing a 15 point turn lol, I have a good deal of room to work with though and no pavement.
When I am done I just take it for a little spin and make sure the convertor is locked up to cool everything off. Some days I wish I would have gotton a stick, then I get into bumper to bumper traffic.
