Replacement Brake Pads

I had to replace my front brake pads after 70k on the factory pads and that is with some heavy pulling. I replaced them with Auto Zone Duralast Gold since I had used those on my old 01.5 and had good luck with them. I have had them on the truck about a month and they stop great but the dust on the front wheels is horrible. It is bad just everyday driving but with the trailer in tow it is really bad. Any suggestions as to what to swap them with that will stop good while towing yet not dust up the wheels? Anyone using the Hawk HP pads Genos sells? This dust has to go.

Wagner Thermo-Quiets are going on my truck in the near future. Have had good luck with them on the wifes vehicle and others also. Last long, quiet, low dust.

Raybestos professional grade pads are what I put on my truck, and there's virtually no dust at all.

Performance Friction Carbon Metallic. Available at Autozone. An excellent heavy duty truck pad with almost no dust.

Raybestos professional grade pads
FYI- Rockauto.com has the fronts on warehouse clearance for $19! Only 2 left.
RAYBESTOS Part # PGD965M

Didn't need them, but picked up a set with other stuff ordered.

I was going to recommend EBC greenstuff pads, they are excellent...

But if you can get raybestos professional grades for $19... well, that is a no-brainer.

John928 - Thanks for the heads up on the Raybestos!

I got on line today and got one of the last sets. Hard to beat for $28 shipped to my door!

Along the lines of pads, mine are the oem and have a 1/4" left on the fronts. I've never had a pad last 5+ years/ 90K on any vehicle. Think I'm going to replace with oem. My question is front rotors, what is the minimum thickness? I mic them at 1.006 average. Can't find any specs in the manual......HELP

Just replaced my front pads for the first time a few weeks ago at 99,700 miles. The backs are OE and are only 50% worn. Used Autozone and already notice more dust than with the OE pads.

Question for those that have zero or almost zero dust. If the pads are not wearing, does that mean that the disc is now wearing instead? Isn't it more cost effective to use softer pads, stay with the dust and save the discs? Then there is the other factor, which pad provides better braking? Geno's claim there pad has far better braking power than OE.

I am always easy on brake pads on all my vehicles. Plan ahead for stops and use the gears as much as possible to slow down. Originally I did not have an exhaust brake, but now use that many times a day for normal driving.
