Since winter is heading this way I figure that it is time to get a remote start for my cold blooded truck. Any one have a idea of which is better and easier to install myself or should I just head out to the the local electronic truck store and have them install.

 

I've had the Avital brand on four vehicles. I just have a local installer/dealer put them in. This the first diesel on which I've had one; I like the turbo cool-down feature. Not having had any other brands, I can't offer a comparison, just that my experience with the Avital's has been good.

 

I installed a code alarm in my last truck, great system. I read even better things about Compustar (my next) and Astrostart. Putting a RS in these trucks is NOT for the faint of heart, if you dont understand wiring and your trucks electrical system dont mess with it.

i've installed 2, and after each sworn i'll never do it again. not worth the hassle

 

I install them all the time,200 vs 1000$ and 2nd the code alam, ca670 with the telematics module so I can control it with my phone from anywhere.

 

For all you guys that have had them installed what are you looking at, cost wise,for the system and labor?
