Redline might not be the problem

Truck is hard to shift into gear when I'm at a stop. Any recommendations?

Thanks
Kris

Are you sure it's the lube and not the clutch hydraulic system?

My truck shifted much better prior to the change of the fluid. But to be fair I do not know for a fact that it's not the clutch. Anything I can do to check? Or is this something that I've got to go to the shop for?

With the mods you've got, I'm almost willing to say it's the clutch or the hydraulics for it. You are the first person on any forum I've ever read that had a bad comment on redline fluid. Not saying that it's not possible, just not probable. I'd look at your clucth first. Especially if it's factory.

I just went out and tried shifting it into all the gears before I started it and it seemed easier than it does once it's warmed up. Hopefully you can tell me what I can do now to fix it.

The reason I asked the question is because mine did the same thing last month. All of a sudden it became hard to get into gear from a dead stop. After a few days of this I pumped the clutch really fast about 12 times in a row. Problem went away.
BTW, I'm running Amsoil MTF.

If mine did that right after a fluid change, I'd get rid of the fluid before looking somewhere else. In fact, it DID happen to me. I tried RP in my 97 and I couldn't shift it, so the RP got drained and went back to oem. It didn't make sense to suspect anything else. Craig

Mine also can be difficult to get into 1st at a stop. Sometimes shifting into 3rd first helps.

Mine, however, started doing that before I switched to Redline. I don't think it is the clutch, as the friction point hasn't changed.

I'm thinking the best (but maybe not cheapest) solution may be to go look at a 5500 when they come out...

Suprisingly doing the clutch pump thing seemed to make it shift easier. Next time(if there is) I'll do that right away and see what happens.

Thanks

i actually have slight probs with the redline mtl. seems to shift fine and then act up and slightly grind gong into gear on up shifts and downshifts. This started happening right after I switched to the redline last fall. wanted it to shift better in the cold winter, but i might be trying to switch again after the temps warm up.

I tried pumping the clutch several times and seeing how it goes into 1st. It does seem to help. Maybe I'll look into the hyd. linkage...
