2011 3500, thumbs up or down
Looking at getting the wife out of her 2008 Ford PSD and into a 2011 3500. I know the earlier 6.7's had some problems but have heard they mostly have them figured out. If possible, can you folks just give me a quick yes or no if you think it is worth the money or not. I hate....hate the 6.4 Ford....Also, looking to find maybe a 06 Mega with 5.9....thanks in advance for any opinions...

I came from an '06 mega to a 2010 3500 crew cab dually. The 2006 was nice and trouble free, but my 2010 has been twice the truck. I have 11,500 trouble free miles on my 2010. I am trading my 2010 in on Tuesday however.
To answer your question, YES its worth it.

went from 04.5 3rd Gen to a 2010 3500 and truck has a whole lot more features. I love the 6 speed sometimes it does shift real early compared to the 48RE. The 3500 rides smoother than my old truck also. I did the deletes and have been very happy. Just did 2200+ miles this week from TX to KY and not one single glitch.

Got a 2011, 3500 Laramie with 35" tires, 2.5" lift, fender flares, air bags and all the right stuff to make the truck a head turner. So far, really happy with the truck (7000 miles) except for the disappointing fuel economy (my 2005 similar truck got 5 mpg more) thanks EPA morons. Only problem is the backup camera quit, need to figure it out.

2011 3500 Larime DRW. 10000 trouble free mile and I tow heavy. I was hoping for better loaded mileage but it's not bad at around 10. The empty mileage is bad. Still all stock so I'll be able to work on it. Also the oil gets and stays real dirty.

You boys need to drive those trucks more....my 2010 was a year old on May 1st, and I had 40,180 miles on her.
No powertrain problems so far, except for the emissions crap. Truck will kill keyless entry fob batteries, and my vanity light in the passenger mirror doesn't work right, but those are both very minor things.
Still loving it!
Chris
Edit: Forgot, it has developed a vibration in the last 200 miles...I'm guessing u-joint. Dealer is going to look at it Monday morning.

I was in the same boat, traded a 2010 Ford crew cab that I had ordered. Wasnt pleased with the 6.4, put about 9800 miles on it. Got a 2011 3500 dually crew cab and havent looked back. I dont have any miles to speak of since it doesnt leave the driveway ever but the few I do have really impressed me.

Mine will be 4 months old on the 11th.
13100 miles on it.
Not a blip on the trouble radar yet.
Unload MPG has creeped up over 14. This is with the G56 and 3.73 ( = to 68RE/4.10)

3k on mine... If I drive 60 with cruise I am getting 17-18mpg unloaded. Pulling a 10k trailer I get about 11mpg.
So far only complaint is the uConnect takes forever to connect an incoming call. I push accept and it still wants to tell me a call is inbound before connecting. Also had issues syncing my phones.
