Red line shifting-2006 5.9
If you know anything about transmissions on our dodges, please post input. On the street, I can accelerate from a light with normal acceleration and it shifts at 3000 RPM. When I first start it in the morning (Vegas), it doesn't shift until 4000 RPM (well into red), then when the motor warms up to operating temperature it shifts at 3k. On the highway, I am cruising at 1,800-2,800 RPM. I took it to my unlce's GM dealership, and they hooked it up and it is not slipping, and it is NOT throwing any codes. I notice my fuel consumption is greater, and miles per gallon is lower. I took it to my uncle's GM shop because he will help me on the price, and so we changed the trans fluid, trans filter, gaskets, fuel filter, and air filter. It helped considerably from when it first started doing it but still is shifting at way too high of an RPM range. I would like to see if the intelligent minds of DTR can help me out, before I drag my feet to the dealer. One note, I do not know if there is a difference between a flush and a "change," but I do know it was changed and only 6 quarts of the 12 I bought were used. Has something to do with it? Please post up if you know what the hell I am talking about!!!!
Im by no means an expert, but i would start with the governor solenoid. Its the main contributor to the shift patterns and from what ive heard they are a common problem. As long as your in there though it might be a wise idea to change the transducer at the same time. Ive heard that they run hand in hand. my .02

it's probably your TTVA, transmission throttle valve actuator. I had this same problem went out and bought a new one ($100+) from the dealer. after putting it turned out to be a bad connector and I couldnt' return the part cause it's electrical. If you have a shop manual for your truck (great investment) you should look it up.
Good luck!
