rear pinion seal question

I had my rear pinion seal replaced under warranty (28K mi.) and nobody there ( Bankston, Frisco,TX) could tell me if they had replaced the differential fluid. I don't know what it takes to get a "5 Star" rating, but it must not be much.

I'm guessing that when you replace the seal most of the differential fluid would drain, right?

thanks.

Just checked my repair manual and it says noting about loosing any oil while installing a pinon seal. It does say to check the fluid level after the install.

At 28K miles you might want to change the fluid just to be on the safe side.
Fluid is to be changed anyway at 30K.

When they replaced my front one, all they did was top it off. Didn't change it.

you wouldnt loose much if any but they should have at least topped off the fluid level.

thanks

Thanks y'all! I appreciate the info.

I suspect they topped off any fluid and my intention is to change the diff fluid at 30K as papaduck suggests.

Cheers!
