Red face Bad/Leaking Injectors???

Just wondering what the symptoms are...

I know to check the oil level, which mine seems high, but no smell of diesel at all.(Which I always thought was a sign of it)
Also too, fuel mileage has decreased, and over the past two months has gotten worse and worse with each fillup, same driving habits.
Sitting on 12.9mpg right now(hand calculated)

Any help would be appreciated, or if anyone knows anyone in the DFW area to have it checked out.

Thanks

did you check the oil level in the morning before start up? One way I know to check if th einjector is leaking in the oil is replace fuel filter and fill the canister up with fuel treatment run truck shut off and check oil if it smells like treatment bad injector

I may give it a shot, but I just replaced the fuel filter, and dont have any more spares at the moment.

This has been more of a ongoing issue, the oil level was fine before, but after the last tank getting some pretty cruddy mpg, I checked the oil level, and its a bit high. The fuel mileage has been dropping over the past two months, from 14/15mpg, to not breaking 13, just got 12.9 last tank.

GAFF, I dont have any smoke issues, non at startup, and nothing but coal black rolling into it on the highway, havent seen any whitesmoke.

Are the rumors true of being able to smell diesel in the oil?

when my injectors went out I had no white smoke no rough idle idled great no stumbling checked oil due to the fact my manual oil pressure gauge was reading low psi I drained about 6 1/2 gallons of oil and fuel out of the crankcase

It depends on the amount in the crankcase but yes you could smell it if it were in there.

The O-reillys auto store here has a L/O viscosity test for rent. Might want to call around to see if a auto store around you has one for rent. Then you can test to see if you have too much F/O dilution. Anything over 5% means there is a leak. but you will see anywhere from .5% - 2%

Last month I was getting a little white in the mornings and a bit of a rough idle. . . It turned out the perhaps a dirty injector not a bad one. . .I don't drive hard during my commutes. . .so the recent camping trip 700miles round trip towing a 7K trailer was just the ticket. . .mileage went from 18.5 back up to 21 and no mornings with rough idle or smoke since then. . .

It must be true. . . .you gotta work these motors. . . .

Did you MPG idiot gauge also show the decrease in mileage? just wondering.

i would run some power service thru your truck every once in a while if you dont work it hard.

Yeah, slightly less on the overhead, but way less hand calculated

I was averaging 14/15, then slowly went downhill, last tank was 12.9mpg.

I run power service every tank(8oz) and occasionally tcw-3 2 cycle.(just a few oz at a time)

Well, they say the injectors are fine...
I really dont see how, but oh well. At least when they saw the ECM, they didnt report it to DC.

Should be picking up the truck tonight, guess ill see if the fuel mileage miraculously improves...

If not, '07 5.9 6spd on the way.
