Rear Brakes smokin on my Dually

I noticed it several times already but this weekend I had to do an emergency stop on a steep hill and my rear brakes were smokin horribly. I've had my front brakes looked at and I'm told they are fine. Are the duallies set up the same as other trucks with 60/40 braking? Previously, my truck spent alot of time on gravel roads so the rear rotors vents are full of dirt, could it just be a cooling problem?

P.S. This is all running unloaded other than a 400l tidy tank.

I think I'd check to make sure a axel seal not leaking.

Have the shop look at the anti lok brake controller.
Was it both rear brakes or just one side. If both then its your emergency brakes not releasing fully. My rear brakes have not released properly at times also. I have had them replace the calipers on both sides and perform a brake system flush. It has helped some, however there has been a time or two that they still didn't release completely.

It was just the drivers side that was smokin this time, but i've felt both hot before. My Emergency brake is right to the floor to activate so I wouldn't doubt that it could use some attention. Gotta do upper ball joints this week so it will have to wait. I've heard that doing ebrakes on these rear disc duallies is pretty fun.

The e-brake is inside the disk.

Take a good look at the disk and the rotors. Check to see if the show signs of burning. Mine showed and smelt burnt, that is why they rplaced the calipers. I still think its the ABS controller that is not allowing the calipers to properly release.
