Smokin' brakes

The other day I went for a short drive and was enjoying the nicer weather. The truck was working great and I was thinking to myself how nice these trucks are. Then it was almost like I got a sign from above that I was wrong.
I could smell brakes burning, and you know at first you watch the other cars ahead of you and laugh to yourself that someone forgot to release their parking brake. Well I soon found out that someone was me and my right front brake was smoking. I stopped to have a look to see what I could do. I jacked the truck and thought about taking the wheel off but that came quickly to and end when the 15/16 nuts were bigger than the factory wheel wrench. I bet it is only a 11/16. It was the first time I needed it. After the truck cooled for about 10 minutes the wheel was easy to turn and seemed to loosen all the way. I put the truck down and continued to drive 30 minutes to get home with no trouble. I took the wheel off at home and couldn't find anything wrong. The caliper seemed loose and the pads weren't stuck on the slides.
Question: What happened? I haven't gone too far since but it seems to be OK. Any help would be appreciated.

More than likely the caliper stuck, or was hung up on the caliper rail. Pretty common. You might want to take the caliper off and silicone grease the caliper rails. While you have it off change the pads. This will make the caliper piston work in a different area of the caliper, if that makes sense.

Either a frozen caliper or collapsed brake line. If the brakes stay on and gradually free that is usually a sign of a collapsed brake line.
