re: recall and vent mod

Has anyone taken there truck in for the fuel tank vent recall that has installed the fuel tank vent mod?

I was thinking I would just do it myself. I forgot when I installed the vent mod kit.

Never heard of this tank vent recall. What is the so-called problem?

There are two openings on top of the fuel tank with 90 degree elbows. Dodge issued a recall because water can get in the tank through these elbows, especially since they are positioned in a recess.

The recall fix is to attach some hose to the elbows and run the vent hose to a location that water cannot access. There are many people who have already done this on their own.

Yeah... It wasn't worth waiting over an hour for them to just attach two little rubber hoses and let them hang over the side of the tank! Just do it yourself and save the time of waiting at the dealer!

Yup... not worth going to the dealer for that! When I had my tank dropped for the tank vent modification I just put some rubber fuel line on there, into a "T" fitting, then into a small lawn mower fuel filter. No worries now.

Well I got the notice the other day in the mail and they said they would replace the fuel filter to so hey I think it might be worth the hour wait if I get a new fuel filter since I have never changed it before and I dont know how to.

I suppose a free fuel filter is cool, but you should really learn to change it yourself. It literally takes 10 minutes and that is if you are careful to not spill any fuel. 5 minutes if you are "sloppy"
