Radiator Cover for Cold Weather
Radiator Cover for Cold Weather
I'm interested in a radiator cover for cold weather.
1. What kind and where to buy?
2. Any other info. as I've never used one before.
I have a short commute to work, so I want the engine to get as warm as possible and as quick as possible.
TIA

Buy the mopar cover, easy to put on and take off and has 4 velcro openings for airflow. I bought mine from my dealer for a reasonable price.

I went to the dealer to buy it, and they told me $160 for just the winter front. I only use Fia winterfronts. They come with a summer bug screen. I paid $54 for mine. I have had it a year, and I only drive 4 miles to work. After I put it on, I can actually get heat before I get to the shop. Before, it would only get to about 160 or so, now it warms up to normal when I put it on. The bugscreen is nice too. It is surprising how many bugs it catches, and it doesn't block enough air to cause overheating. I was worried about that, because I tow a heavy trailer a lot. Fia also has great customer service. I hit a deer and had to get a new grill, and when I called them to get some more fasteners (stickons, another thing I like-no drilling), they sent me two sets free of charge.

I plan on putting mine on in the middle of October here in upper Illinois. When temperatures start staying below 50. To answer LanceK,with the cover in the winter, temperature is 200* after a 7 mile trip to work. Right now with the temperatures in the 50's, with no cover or heater, temperatures come up 1/2 way to 200*. I would say heat up time is about 1/2 or better (using the cover last winter). FYI

I also put mine on once temps stay under 50, although I've had mine on (last spring) up to 60 - and it was fine. I have the mopar cover, and it's awsome. I keep all four flaps open over 20 degrees, and close 2 of them under 20. I'm in the upper part of IL, BTW.
Also, I like the Mopar blanket better than the ones that cover the grill, mainly because I like not being able to see it from the outside and because it keeps the stock air intake routing in place / functional.
